NEW DELHI: The ongoing rainy season in northwest India has brought an unusually excessive amount of rainfall, contributing to a surplus in the overall monsoon figures across the country. As a result, the region has experienced widespread landslides and flooding in both hilly and plain areas. The overflowing rivers like Beas, Sutlej, and others have submerged cities, villages, and farmland, damaging houses and vehicles.
Himachal Pradesh
* Rain fury has claimed 17 lives in last 3 days, damage estimated at Rs 4,000 crore
* Major portion of Manali-Leh NH collapses in Lahaul-Spiti. Hundreds stranded in Lahaul & Chamba. Kullu-Manali NH along with several other major roads blocked
* Shimla-Kalka road blocked. Many vehicles swept away in Parwanoo
Punjab & Haryana
* Satluj & seasonal rivulet Ghaggar breach banks hAround 3K students of Chitkara University near Rajpura shifted out. Residents of 250 houses evacuated in Patiala
* Floods in north Haryana, trains cancelled. Panchkula, Ambala & Kurukshetra worst hit
Uttarakhand

UP & Rajasthan
