Ways You Can Still Cancel Your Federal Student Loan Debt

Image
[ad_1] There are still plenty of ways to get your student debt wiped away. The Supreme Court’s decision on Friday to block President Biden’s loan forgiveness program will be an enormous disappointment for the 43 million people who might have benefited from having up to $20,000 of debt canceled, but millions of borrowers have already gotten relief thanks to a grab bag of methods that are still available. That’s because the Supreme Court’s disapproval of the plan does not change laws and regulations that already give many federal student loan borrowers an escape hatch. What follows is a list of ways to eliminate your federal student loan balance aside from paying in full. (Rules are different for private student loans that do not come from the government, and they’re generally much more strict.) It includes many citations for other articles, F.A.Q.’s and explainers we have published on these topics. Too many people do not know they are eligible for one or more of these programs. If

Towards the end of the train ride, Straight spoke to the man, Chris Meffen, about the spot on his face. "I know this might seem weird, but I just am a dermatologist," she recalled saying. [ad_1] Comment on this story Comment BRASÍLIA — Brazil’s top elections court voted Friday to bar Jair Bolsonaro from running for office for eight years — a period that covers the next presidential election — for making what members of the panel said were claims he knew to be false about the integrity of the country’s voting systems. As president, the “Trump of the Tropics” repeatedly asserted without evidence that the voting systems in Latin America’s largest country were vulnerable to fraud. With the vote of Judge Cármen Lúcia Friday afternoon, the seven-member Superior Electoral Court reached a majority to convict the right-wing populist of abuse of power for undermining faith in the country’s young democracy. The ruling, if it survives a planned Supreme Court appeal, means Bolsonaro, 68, won’t be able to run for president until the 2030 election, when he’ll be 75. It’s the first time in the court’s 90-year history that it has applied the ban to a former president. Bolsonaro, ai

‘Now, Let’s Be a Starfish!’: Learning With Ms. Rachel, Song by Song

Image
[ad_1] Rachel Griffin Accurso was rushing to grab pastries on her way to a recording studio one spring morning in Manhattan. She grew hot as she left the subway with the sun beating down on her, and she took her jacket off without thinking. And just like that, she had unintentionally transformed into her alter ego. Wearing her signature bluejean overalls, pink T-shirt and a matching headband, she became that friendly woman from the videos: the one who joyfully pronounces words, babbles if necessary, waves and sings to instruct her little viewers. She had morphed publicly into Ms. Rachel, playfully described as the “Beyoncé for toddlers” in a TikTok comment. For many, she has become a household name as she has seen her children’s videos, “Songs for Littles,” skyrocket in popularity over the last year, garnering more than 4.8 million YouTube subscribers. “I got stuck recording videos for everyone,” a mildly-out-of-breath Ms. Griffin Accurso said as she arrived a few minutes late to
