Frequent Headaches Linked To Bullying, Suicidal Thoughts In Teenagers, Says Study

Image
[ad_1] The study, published in the online issue of the medical journal Neurology, does not prove that bullying or thoughts of suicide cause headaches, but shows an association. “Headaches are a common problem for teenageragers, but our study looked beyond the biological factors to also consider the psychological and social factors that are associated with headaches,” said Serena L. Orr, from the University of Calgary in Canada. “Our findings suggest that bullying and attempting or considering suicide may be linked to frequent headaches in teenageragers, independent of mood and anxiety disorders." The study involved more than 2.2 million teenagers with an average age of 14 years. Of the total participants, 0.5 per cent self-reported being gender diverse, meaning being transgender or self-reporting as being gender diverse including being gender nonbinary. ‘Lilo & Stitch’ live action draws controversy over ‘colorist’ castings

[ad_1] Comment on this story Comment In Disney’s sea of characters from the early 2000s, “ Lilo & Stitch ” swept into families’ hearts on a different kind of wave. Kids with brown skin and wide noses, children who were neurodivergent and those learning to cope with grief all saw a bit of themselves reflected in a girl named Lilo, the protagonist of a film that was the first taste of luaus and “Aloha Oe” for many children on the mainland. Now that the kids who grew up with “Lilo & Stitch” are young adults, many are looking on with apprehension, fearing that a forthcoming live-action remake of their introduction to Hawaiian life and culture will water down the film’s cultural focus. [ad_1] (CNN) — For medical school student Nikhil, that New Year's Eve was emotional, cathartic and unexpected. It was December 2010. Nikhil's father had recently passed away from cancer. Nikhil, then in his 20s, and his brother, who are Indian American, traveled from their home in the US to western India to scatter some of their father's ashes. "We decided to spread his remains in an ancestral place," Nikhil tells CNN Travel today. Afterward, the two brothers extended the trip. "We were going to be there over the New Year, and so we decided to go to Goa, up on the western coast, which is known for some of the best New Year's celebrations in India," says Nikhil. One of Nikhil's oldest friends flew in to join them, and the trio headed to the golden beaches and buzzy bars of Goa. China's exports fall 7.5% in May: Report - Times of India

Image
[ad_1] BEIJING: China's exports fell in May for the first time since February, state media reported Wednesday, breaking a two-month growth streak as a post-Covid rebound in the world's second-largest economy faded. Overseas shipments sank 7.5 percent on-year last month, a sharp drop from an increase of 8.5 percent in April, according to figures published by the official Xinhua news agency. Meanwhile, imports fell 4.5 percent in May, according to Xinhua. Forecasts in a survey by Bloomberg showed economists expected exports to drop 1.8 percent and imports to shrink 8.0 percent. Rising global inflation , the threat of recession elsewhere and geopolitical tensions with the United States have weakened demand for Chinese products . China's exports grew in March and April, snapping a run of five straight declines, when production was disrupted by sweeping lockdowns and delays at ports when authorities enforced their strict zero-Covid policy. But that recovery has lost steam
