German chancellor doubles down, warns of 'consequences' if China sends arms to Russia

Image
[ad_1] German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has doubled down on his calls for China to refrain from sending weapons to Russia amid its invasion of Ukraine. He also said there would be "consequences" if the suggestion is ignored. Scholz’s comments came just two days after he met with President Joe Biden in Washington. They were also preceded by a warning from U.S. officials that China could become more involved in the war by providing guns and ammunition to Moscow. "I think it would have consequences, but we are now in a stage where we are making clear that this should not happen, and I’m relatively optimistic that we will be successful with our request in this case, but we will have to look at (it) and we have to be very, very cautious," Scholz said during an interview that aired Sunday. The German chancellor did not elaborate on potential actions Germany, NATO or the European Union may take. GERMAN CHANCELLOR OLAF SCHOLZ IS CALLING ON CHINA TO REFRAIN FROM SENDING

Powdered milk ‘formulas’ for toddlers are lacking in nutrients, warns American Academy of Pediatrics

[ad_1] Powdered milk products for infants older than 6 months or toddlers 12 months and up might not live up to the claims on the packaging, a new report states. Although these products are often lumped in with infant formula, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is warning that they do not offer the same nutritional benefits and should not be used as a replacement for human milk or cow’s milk. "Older infant-young child formulas (OIYCFs) can safely be used as part of a varied diet for children, but do not provide a nutritional advantage in most children over a well-balanced diet that includes human milk (preferred) and/or cow milk, and these products should not be promoted as such," the researchers wrote in the report, which was published in the online journal Pediatrics on Oct. 20.  BENEFITS OF BREASTFEEDING FOR BOTH MOM AND BABY "OIYCFs have no specific role in routine care of healthy children and are more expensive than cow milk." [ad_1] In December last year, the government dismissed Ramiz Raja and formed a management committee headed by Najam Sethi to take over the affairs of the PCB.  The committee was given 120 days to restore regional and departmental cricket and the 2014 constitution. It was also given the task of forming a 10-member governing board and appointing a chairman. Its term was to be completed on April 21. However, things seemed to be simple at first. However, the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Affairs objected to the appointment of the Election Commissioner. Then only a two to four-week summary was sent to the Prime Minister's House to extend the committee's tenure.  Minister Ehsan ur Rehman Mazari belongs to PPP. Interestingly, the committee got a two-month extension, likely ending on June 22. Zaka Ashraf was PCB's chairman in the previous regime of PPP. He remained the head and was removed from office after the change of government; later, he had a legal battle with Naja

Brendan McDermid | Reuters Companies added jobs at a brisk pace in February as the U.S. labor market kept humming, payroll services firm ADP reported Wednesday. Private payrolls increased by 242,000 for the month, ahead of the Dow Jones estimate for 205,000 and well above the upwardly revised 119,000 jobs gain, from 106,000, in January . Wage growth decelerated slightly, with those remaining in their jobs seeing a 7.2% annual increase, down 0.1 percentage point from a month ago. Job changers saw growth of 14.3%, compared to 14.9% in January. The report comes with Federal Reserve officials watching jobs data closely for clues on where inflation is headed.
