NFL owners approve unique neutral site playoff arrangement following Bills-Bengals cancellation | CNN

[ad_1] CNN  —  The NFL owners have approved an unprecedented postseason plan following the cancellation of Monday night’s Buffalo Bills -Cincinnati Bengals game, which would allow the title game for the American Football Conference to be held at a neutral site. The league held a special virtual meeting with all 32 team owners or their designee on Friday to determine possible playoff scenarios, because two teams, the Bills and Bengals, will have played fewer regular season games. Monday night’s game between the Bills and Bengals was canceled after Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field and was taken to the hospital. While other teams will have played 17 games, Buffalo and Cincinnati will enter the playoffs having played 16 contests. “I recognize that there is no perfect solution,” NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Thursday after the proposal was approved by the competition

China allows Didi to resume signing up new users as tech crackdown eases | CNN Business

[ad_1] Hong Kong CNN  —  Ride-hailing giant Didi received approval to resume new user registration in China, it said Monday, providing more evidence that Beijing’s regulatory crackdown on tech giants might be coming to an end. The move is the latest sign that regulators are loosening the reins on the country’s beleaguered tech companies in a bid to spur economic growth. “For more than a year, our company has cooperated with the government’s cybersecurity review, seriously dealt with the security issues found in the review, and carried out a comprehensive rectification,” Didi said in a statement posted on its Weibo account. With the approval of the Cybersecurity Review Office, Didi will be able to resume adding new users “immediately,” it added. Didi is a poster child for Beijing’s years-long crackdown on its tech companies. Just days after its $4.4 billion IPO

Hong Kong raids shop suspected of selling cat and dog meat -- 70 years after trade was banned | CNN

[ad_1] CNN  —  Authorities in Hong Kong have raided a shop suspected of selling dog and cat meat as food – more than 70 years after the trade was outlawed. Officers seized “suspected samples of dog or cat flesh” at a shop in the Yau Ma Tei district during a “joint blitz operation” by the city’s Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department and the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department on Thursday evening. The AFCD said it had carried out the raid after receiving reports that the meats were on sale in Yau Ma Tei – a densely populated commercial and residential district in the Kowloon area – and that it had arranged testing of the seized samples. It said it was also investigating whether the shop was trading fresh meat without a license. “Prosecution will be instituted should it be proven,” the AFCD said in a statement. [ad_1] Tel Aviv CNN  —  In a sea of Israeli flags, Yiftach Golov holds one that looks a little different. Among the hundreds of thousands of protesters who took to the streets for the 13th week in a row on Saturday, Golov hoists a brown flag that represents a group called “Brother and Sisters in Arms.” They are veterans – many, like Golov, from elite forces – who now feel they are fighting on a new battlefield: To save Israeli democracy. “We believe this is our responsibility to go once again called to the flag of the nation to stop this madness to defend Israel,” Golov said, as he weaved his way through the protesters on Tel Aviv’s Kaplan street, between the high-rises that house many of Israel’s high tech companies. During the second intifada, in the early 2000s, Golov served in a special forces reconnaissance unit. He was never before particularly political,
